Election Commission of Pakistan has rejected the request made by the Punjab Government for delaying the by-elections. ECP told the provincial government Monday that by-elections on NA-149 constituency will be held on 16th October as per the schedule.
The decision was taken by the ECP officials after Punjab Government requested the Commission to postpone in NA-149 of Multan . The provincial government has made the request in the aftermath of stampede in PTI’s procession held in Multan.
NA-149 seat was vacated after the resignation of Javed Hashmi,former president of PTI. Hashmi is again contesting by-polls from NA 149 as an independent candidate.
