ISLAMABAD: Welcoming the decision by Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif to take parliamentary parties on board regarding motion moved by MQM and JUI-F in the National Assembly calling for de-seating PTI MPs, political leaders said past bitterness should be forgotten for the sake of democracy.

They were speaking in Nuqta-e-Nazar and Perspectives programmes of RadioPakistan’s News and Current Affairs Channel.

PML-N leader and Federal Minister, Mushahid Ullah Khan said their party has been resolving all issues through consensus.  We want to resolve the issue of de -seating PTI’s members with consultation of all political parties and the prime minister has taken political leadership on board. PTI leadership should realize their mistakes and apologize to the nation for baseless propaganda. The Prime Minister has requested all political leaders to show flexibility regarding the motion presented in the house. We believe in democracy and want to bury hatchets for the sake of democracy.

PPP leader Professor N.D .Khan said step taken by the Prime Minister is very positive. This step should be welcomed by the other political parties and everyone should sit together and discuss this matter. It is good omen that the prime minister is taking all decisions in consultations with all the parties. We are now moving towards right direction and we are passing through early stages that will ultimately help us strengthen democracy.

ANP leader Ghulam Ahmed Balour said political parties of the country have showed magnanimity and decided not to de-seat the members of PTI from the parliament. MQM and JUI-F want acceptance of resignation of PTI’s members. The Prime Minister has formed a committee to evolve consensus on the issue of de-seating PTI members from parliament. This committee will contact MQM and JUI-F to convince them to avoid tabling resolution against PTI’s members in parliament.

Jamaat-e Islami Chief Senator Sirajul Haq was of the view that we should leave this issue and pay attention to the problems faced by the common man. All matters should be settled through consultations and consensus. Everyone has accepted the report of judicial commission. We should avoid fighting with each other because our country is not in position to afford further political instability.
