DDOs involved in irregularities would be punished: CS Sindh

KARACHI (INP): Chief Secretary Sindh Sajjad Saleem Hotiana has said that DDOs (Drawing & Disbursing Officers) involved and proved in irregularities and misappropriation would be punished.

This he said while presiding over a meeting of a committee constituted by the Controller General of Accounts of Pakistan (CGAP) which met in Sindh Secretariat with the specific reference of few cases of embezzlement i.e. misappropriation of Provincial Government Funds pertained to the Sindh Education Department and Sindh Police.

The Committee reported irregularities of dual payment of Shuhada’s Funds, non deduction of taxes, fake and sub standard purchases, un-authentic maintenance of General Provident Fund, and the mal practices- with the collaborated ill-efforts of the few officers of A.G. (Accountant General) Sindh, Education and Police Department.

The Chief Secretary maintained that the reports are being thoroughly and comprehensively examined. Serious action shall be taken against the defaulter, in accordance with the rules and regulations, linked to serious cases, he added.

In addition to Chief Secretary, AG Sindh Ahsan Ali Kehar, IG Sindh Ghulam Hyder Jamali and Director Legal-Anti- Corruption, Mushtaq Ali Soomro attended the meeting.
