Dar urges envoys abroad to work for inviting investment in Pakistan

‘Govt respects people’s rights, trying to end sit-ins without using force’

 ISLAMABAD (NNI) Finance Minister Senator Ishaq Dar has directed High Commissioners designate to United Kingdom and Australia to make efforts to attract investors from their respective countries of assignment as this is the policy of the PML-N Government to promote foreign investment in the country.

 He was talking to Pakistan’s HCs designate to Australia and United Kingdom, Ms. Naela Chohan and Syed Ibne Abbas respectively who called on him here on Monday.

 Dar congratulated both designates for taking up their new assignments and said that he has full confidence that they will fulfill their responsibilities in the best interest of Pakistan. The Finance Minister as a farewell guiding remarks to Ms. Chohan said that “we would like to strengthen our ties with Australia by promoting cooperation through trade and investment.

Dar maintained that we would like to welcome the Australian exporters who have shown interest in LNG export to Pakistan as solving the energy crisis is the top priority of our government.

Government is striving hard to achieve macro-economic stability and we would soon recover and would be on the road to progress again. PML-N is committed to tolerance and respect for the legal rights of the people of this country. This is why we are trying to disperse the protesters without using any force. We hope that things will be normal very soon and this is our message to the international community, said the Finance Minister.

 We will send the list of economic achievements and medium term plan to all our Ambassadors in different countries so that they could build a strong case for inviting investment from all over the world to Pakistan, said the Minister.

 Talking to both the High Commissioners designate, Dar said that at present the rehabilitation of the IDPs affected by Pakistan’s struggle against terrorism is a high priority of the PML-N government. The relief and reconstruction efforts will require around $ 1.5 to $ 2 billion and we will ensure that this work is performed with highest level of transparency and commitment. We would like to establish a Committee to look after the reconstruction activities .We would also like other countries to participate as Pakistan is waging a war for the sake of peace of the entire globe.
