ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader Daniyal Aziz in a press conference on Monday slammed Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s (PTI) ‘anthem’ of ‘Go Nawaz Go’ which is raised at every rally, saying that it is in fact a slogan for Nawaz Sharif and not against him.
Daniyal Aziz is known for his blatant criticism of the cricketer-turned-politician, with his most recent comment coming a couple of weeks back when he asked Imran Khan to ‘be a man’ and identify the one who offered him bribe to stop pursuing the Panama case.
In his remarks to media on Monday, the PML-N leader continued his streak of criticisms against the PTI leader. Aziz, while criticising Imran’s comments about how translation of court judgments gives them a harsher tone, said that the PTI leader should also translate his party’s slogans.
The PML-N leader specifically targeted the slogan ‘Go Nawaz Go’, considering the fact that it is used at every rally and dharna. Daniyal Aziz slammed the slogan for actually being in support of Nawaz Sharif instead of being against him.
Daniyal Aziz said that the slogan ‘Go Nawaz Go’ translates as ‘geo Nawaz geo’ in Urdu. He added that when people heard this, what they actually heard was ‘geo Nawaz geo’ (live Nawaz live). He further added that this was the reason that the people of Pakistan voted for PML-N and this was the very reason why the people of Pakistan were voting for PML-N in every election; Gilgit-Baltistan elections, Kashmir elections, by-elections and local government elections.
Continuing his criticism, the PML-N leader landed another blow at Imran by saying that ‘Ro Imran Ro’ translates as ‘RO Imran RO’, in context of his criticism on Returning Officers (RO) who were appointed in General Elections 2013.
Daniyal Aziz concluded his scathing remarks by saying, “You (PTI) raise the slogan of ‘geo nawaz geo’, we will also raise this slogan, and PML-N’s votes will keep on rising.” NNI
