FAISALABAD: Punjab Law Minister Rana Sanaullah on Monday said that number of Pakistanis, who have left the country to join Daesh, was not more than 100 and which did not mean that the terrorist group existed in Pakistan.
Pakistani security forces, he said, were working hard to keep such elements at bay. The militant Islamic State group (Daesh – Arabic acronym) would not be allowed to establish its roots in the country, he added.
He was talking to media persons here after inaugurating a Chowk (cross-roads) named afterPakistan’s first martyred female pilot Mariyam Mukhtiyar.
Responding to a question regarding opposition leader Khurshid Shah’s remarks, Rana Sanaullah said that if the opposition leader had any list regarding the people recruited by the Daesh, he should provide it to the government.
To another question, he said that corruption stories used to surface on daily-basis during the Pakistan People’s Party government, but not a single allegation in this regard had been leveled against the present Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz government.
It may be added that Squadron Leader Saqib Abbasi and co-pilot Mariyum were flying a training mission on an FT-7PG aircraft when they encountered a “serious in-flight emergency” during the final stages in Kundian, Mianwali district, on November 24.
Mariyum embraced martyrdom in the incident and became the first lady pilot from PAF to attain this great honour while the male officer, Abbasi, sustained serious injuries.
She was among about 20 female fighter pilots in the Pakistan Air Force (PAF), which only began inducting women in combat roles in 2006.
