In 2009 the bus carrying players of Sri Lankan Cricket Team was attacked in Lahore, since then no test playing nation has visited Pakistan. This is the first time after that infamous incident that today Zimbabwe would be playing against Pakistan in Pakistan.
We must give credit to the officials of Zimbabwe cricket board who sent their team to Pakistan at a time when no other test playing team considered it safe to visit Pakistan.
We all know the importance of this tour. It is being considered as revival of cricket in Pakistan. After a long period of six years, international cricket is returning to our country. It is a significant series for Pakistan that is being considered a test case to check the security situation in the country.
It is a good start as Captain of Zimbabwe cricket team has lauded the facilities provided to them but our target is to conclude series successfully. Because there is only a possibility that other international teams might start considering touring Pakistan if we conclude this series in a decent manner. It is a good opportunity for the Pakistan cricket team to regain its lost confidence.
Although security teams of Zimbabwe Cricket Board recently visited Pakistan to check the security scenario were satisfied with the arrangements, but all security agencies must be extra cautious during the series because future of Pakistan cricket is attached with this very vital tour of Zimbabwe.
Our security agencies must provide fool proof security to the visiting side. Considering the current security situation, audience interested to watch the match in the stadium have been advised to reach the stadium a few hours prior to the match and they would not be allowed to leave until Zimbabwe team reaches their hotel.
Crowd would face strict security condition to pass to the stadium but considering hard times when our country is fighting monster of terror, they should cooperate with law enforcing agencies.
