After dismal performance of Pakistan cricket team in the Asia cup a special committee based on senior players have been formed to find out reasons of pathetic team performance. Veteran batsman Misbah ul Haq who is also captain of Pakistan test team and legendary Younis Khan have been inducted in the committee. According to press release of Pakistan Cricket Board the terms of reference for the committee are being prepared and will include the selection criteria, the coaching preparation and the team performance.
It is a good practice to form committees to evaluate the performance of team but why always PCB comes up with this idea after the failure of team in international tournaments. If we put a glance at the performance of team in limited over games we would find disastrous statistics. The green shirts have suffered defeat in seven of their last ten one-day internationals. Performance in T20 has declined drastically, being at number 2 in the ICC ranking couple of months before they are on 8th spot currently.
As former players have pointed out that main department which is letting team down is batting. In Asia cup Pakistan crumbled to 83 their lowest against India then against must win game against Bangladesh Pakistan found themselves reeling at 34 for four at the half-way stage in their innings. Reckless shot-selection, flaws in batting techniques and self-destructive batting are contributing to the sorry state of affairs of team. Bowling department with the arrival of talented Muhammad Amir has been strengthened. PCB still has couple of weeks to make necessary changes in the team before World T20 in India. We hope PCB would utilize this time to find the winning combination.
PCB has some time to find winning combination before World T20 in India.
