ISLAMABAD: The credit of arrest of accused in Rs 17 billion DHA Lahore scam goes to the leadership of Army which has remained neutral during the process of investigation, a former military officer said Monday.
The issue should be pushed to logical conclusion at the earliest so that 25 thousand affectees which include families of martyrs can get justice, said Colonel (Retd) Tariq Kamal, former Director Engineering DHA Islamabad.
In a statement Monday, he said that the accused who fled country should be arrested through Interpol and brought to Pakistan to face trial.
Col Tariq Kamal said that action against accused in unprecedented in the history of Pakistanwhich has improved image of Army. He said that authorities should also consider bringing to justice those who plundered Rs 117 billion in only one of the projects in DHA Islamabad.
He said that there are over half a dozen scam in DHA Islamabad including DHA Valley, Phase II Extension, construction of Expressway, development of Sector F and DHA Villas.
The affectees of DHA Valley surpasses figure of one hundred thousand which include military employees of lower ranks and families of martyrs who are running from pillar to post since 2008 to get plots they paid for, he added.
Col. Tariq said that he provided all the details of corruption in DHA Islamabad to FIA and NAB in 2010 but no meaningful action was taken due to some reasons. FIA registered two FIRs after directions by the Supreme Court but not a single person got any relief.
He lauded the army leadership for allowing action against influential involved in DHA Lahore scam adding that those officers and developers who plundered over 117 billion rupees in DHA Islamabad deserve no mercy. NNI
