Court issues arrest warrant against Musharraf in Lal Masjid case

ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad’s Additional and Sessions  Court on Tuesday issued a bailable arrest warrant against former military ruler Gen (r) Pervez Musharraf in Lal Masjid cleric Ghazi Abdul Rasheed murder case.

The Additional Sessions Judge Wajid Ali Khan presided over the hearing and rejected four requests submitted by the former president’s counsel.

Musharraf’s counsel had previously questioned the jurisdiction of the court as a case regarding Lal Masjid is already pending in Supreme Court. He had also requested exemption of Musharraf  from appearing in court for this case.

The court has also ordered the former president to appear in court on April 2.
