BHIMBER: Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan Thursday said corruption has become a scourge which is “eating away Pakistan like termites”.
The PTI Chairman was addressing a large public gathering in Bhimber, Azad Kashmir. Imran said just ten years ago every Pakistani was indebted Rs35,000, whereas the figure has now jumped to a shocking Rs120,000.
He further added that the loans taken by the government are not being spent on the welfare of the people of Pakistan. ‘Which development projects were carried out through these funds? In whose pockets this money went to?’ asked Khan.
He said the ruler of the country in the assembly acknowledged that he bought a flat in London in 2005, adding that he has proofs of the property being bought ten years ago. Imran said that the nation has been put on mortgage due to the IMG loans and added that after sending ‘stolen’ money abroad the rules lie in front of the parliament.
Khan also criticised Jamiat Ulema Islam Fazl (JUIF) chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman, saying Prime Minister Nawaz needing the JUI-F chief’s support tells that he is in dire straits.
The PTI chief expressed hope that his party will emerge victorious in the upcoming Azad Kashmir election saying that this is the last chance for people of Azad Kashmir to bring change through the ballot.
