ISLAMABAD: A Coordination Conference was held in Islamabad to review the state of preparedness for the forthcoming Monsoon Season.
It was organized by National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA). The conference was informed that slightly below average “Monsoon” rainfall is predicted for 2015, in which major thrust will be from last week of July to end of August. Higher
intensity rains are likely in Khyber Pakhtunkhawa, Northern Punjab, low rainfall in Southern parts of the country mainly Sindh and Balochistan while drought hit areas of Sindh and Balochistan may have very less rains.
NDMA presented salient features of National Monsoon Contingency Response Directive-2015 which is based on experiences of past floods.
