ISLAMABAD : Prime Minister Of Pakistan Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif said on Tuesday that the 26th constitutional amendment open door to development and prosperity of Pakistan and help people get quick justice from courts.
He thanked parliamentarians for approving the amendment with a two-thirds majority.Prime Minister Said The amendment would prove to be a milestone for development, prosperity, economic and political stability of the country,Muhammad Shebaz Sharif said that it took years for a common man to get justice from courts. Setting up of the constitutional bench would provide convenience to the common man, he stated.
He termed passage of the amendment “culmination of the efforts” of Benazir Bhutto and Nawaz Sharif who signed a pact [Charter of Democracy] in 2006.
Prime Minister said all political leaders were consulted and after hectic efforts and long consultations on each clause, the draft of amendment was approved.
“I want to thank all those political leaders who helped me [in passage of the amendment]. My leader Nawaz Sharif guided me and supported me,” he continued.
Prime minister said he had detailed discussions with Maulana Fazlur Rahman. The leaders of the MQM, the ANP and all political parties were consulted on the amendment. The Senate passed the bill with 65 votes while the National Assembly with 225 votes, “for which I am grateful to everyone individually and collectively.”Regarding the SCO summit, he was all praise for the security agencies.SCO conference was a success as Pakistan Army provided full support,” he added.
