To alleviate the growing concerns regarding construction of China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif called All Parties Conference. Earlier, opposition political parties held All Parties Conference which was organized by Balochistan National Party-Mengal to express their grievances over construction of projects under CPEC. One of the main demands of oppositional parties was to for the PM himself to address them and assure them the construction of projects under the finalized plan under which western route would be constructed earlier as others latter.
In an effort to brush aside the difference from multi billion project, Prime Minister called for this APC where representatives of all provincial governments and political parties were present. This action reflected that democracy is our country is flourishing. It is the best way to listen and redress the grievances of each others. Outcome of the APC was even more encouraging as it was reported that Prime Minister was successful in convincing the opposing groups and a consensus agreement has been reached. Hopefully feelings of opposition parties that CPEC will be province-biased will end.
PM will also head the committee which will periodically meet to review the progress on the CPEC. Chief Ministers of all provinces and Gilgit Baltitsan are also part of the committee. It was also reaffirmed that the western route will be constructed on the priority basis and other projects would also be constructed with the proper consultation with other provinces. It is also pleasing that participants from opposition also have confirmed their satisfaction after APC agreements. Indeed it is a highly welcoming development as collective democratic decisions are good for the future of our country.
It is good omen that PM initiated to redress reservations of opposition regarding CPEC development.
