ISLAMABAD: Our country will never be able to become economically stable if the situation of peace and order remains the same, Maulana Fazl-ur-Rehman, member of the National Assembly of Pakistan and the President of the Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (F) said while talking in the well-known show of Roze News, Sachi Baat. Maulana said that we allowed refuge to the Afghanis and now it can be regarded as one of the mistakes of Pakistan as a consequent of Afghan war. But mutual cooperation and good relations between the two countries are crucial for the progress of both the nations, he added.
While taking about the instability in the Pakistani government and the role of the judiciary, he said that he has reservations on some of the decisions taken up by the judiciary. Purposely siding the PM isn’t an acceptable act, he added. Maulana said that people not only have reservations on the disqualification of PM Nawaz but they have also been doubtful about Gilani’s ouster. He said that I have never been in favor of such decisions. He said that he has seen a lot of ups and downs in the politics but has never been in favor of taking an aggressive stance. He added that he believes in the unity of all the political parties. On commenting about the upcoming elections, he said that Election Commission might knock at the court’s door if the issue of constituencies doesn’t get settled. The only need is to have timely elections, he added.
On commenting on the role of institutes, he said that they are playing a significant role for the prevalence of peace in the country. He said that he totally believes in the efforts of the Pak Army and appreciated the role of COAS for the promotion of bilateral relations with other countries. He said that COAS’ visit to Afghanistan and Iran is of great significance for the region. At the same time, I believe that we should not be looking at army with suspicions of interfering in political affairs. Politicians should also not consider army as competitor, he added.
About the restoration of Muttahida Majlis-e-Amal (MMA), he said that there is no obstacle in it and the dialogue for its restoration is ongoing while who is going to lead it is still undecided.
