CAIRO: Chief of Army Staff General Raheel Sharif called on Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi in Cairo on Tuesday and discussed with him matters pertaining to regional security and emerging security challenges.
The Egyptian President acknowledged Pakistan’s efforts for regional stability and its fight against terrorism.
Army Chief said the world and Muslim Ummah should be united to fight the menace of terrorism.
Earlier, the Army Chief paid visit to the training centre of the Egyptian Special Forces and lauded the capabilities and expertise of the Egyptian forces. He also inspected the exercises of the special forces.
According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) department, Army Chief met with the military leaders of Egypt who expressed their intentions of gaining advantage from the experience of Pakistan army regarding the battle against terrorism. COAS was given a guard of honour at the headquarters of the Egyptian army as well.
General Raheel also met with Sheikh Al-Azhar at the Al-Azhar University in the Egyptian capital. Sheikh Al-Azhar appreciated the efforts made by Pakistan in order to wipe out terrorism.
