QUETTA, Dec 16 (INP): Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Raheel Sharif on Tuesday said a handful of elements spreading hatred and terrorism in Balochistan would be defeated completely and the province would soon become a land of peace.

Addressing the passing out parade of Balochistan recruits in Quetta , the Chief of Army Staff (COAS) said it is a matter of satisfaction that the people of Balochistan have rejected all the anti-state elements and they would meet their fate.

He said the armed forces of Pakistan are a symbol of national unity  and keeping in view this fact, thousands of youths of Balochistan have been inducted into the army as officers and soldiers. He expressed the confidence that Balochistan youth will not be behind any one in the defence of the country. He hoped that they would remain guarantor of Balochistan and Pakistan by keeping their high traditions. The army chief said each and every Baloch citizen was the country’s pride, adding that the army wished to promote education in the province.

He said the law enforcement agencies of Balochistan are getting full cooperation of the intelligence agencies in the maintenance of law and order.

He said Pakistan army has full representation from all provinces and communities and this process would go on.

The Army Chief said the incumbent Balochistan government has been taking all the possible measures for development of the province, and the Pakistan Army has been fully supporting it in all the fields including law and order.

“It is your own army and you will find us among you in difficult times” General Raheed Sharif said.

He said Pakistan’s future is linked with the development of Balochistan and it is a matter of satisfaction that the people of Balochistan have rejected all the anti-state elements.

The COAS also highlighted the development work carried out by the army in the province. He said the army had completed work on more than 700 kilometres of tracks and construction of another 500 kilometres of tracks was under way.

“The completion of these corridors will pave way for the development of the province,” the COAS said, adding that Pakistan’s prosperity depended on Balochistan’s progress.

General raheel Sharif said in some other important development projects in the Province, more than one lakh local people have been provided jobs.

He said the army established medical camps in different areas and provided free treatment facilities to the poor.

Earlier, speaking at the ceremony, Balochistan Chief Minister Abdul Malik said it is for the first time that such a large number of Balochistan’s young people are being inducted in the Pakistan Army.

He said all that security forces of Pakistan have been rendering sacrifices for the defence of the country. The CM Balochistan urged the recruits to remain ready for the defence of the country.

A total of 580 cadets belonging to different parts of Balochistan passed out today.
