RAWALPINDI: Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Raheel Sharif has lauded the high state of morale, operational preparedness and vigil of Northern Light Infantry (NLI) troops maintained along the most challenging front line.
He was addressing the annual commanding officers conference held at NLI Regimental Centre Bounji during his visit to Gilgit on Wednesday.
Gen. Raheel Sharif advised the officers and soldiers of NLI Regiment to continue working with army’s traditional unflinching resolve and utmost dedication in the service of the nation.
The COAS also laid floral wreath at Yadgar-e-Shuhada, paying tribute to the martyrs who sacrificed their lives while defending the motherland.
He also met with war veterans, inquired about their well being and commended their services for the country. The COAS also pinned badges to formally install Lieutenant General Ikram Ul Haq as new Colonel Commandant NLI Regiment.
Earlier, on his arrival at the Regimental centre, Gen. Raheel Sharif was received by Commander Rawalpindi Corps Lieutenant General Qamar Javed Bajwa and Lieutenant General Ikram Ul Haq Inspector General training and Evaluation. INP
