RAWALPINDI: Army Chief General Raheel Sharif has directed to take stringent security measures for the security of engineers and labourers working on Gwadar Port and other projects.

He gave the directives during a briefing given to him during his visit to Turbat, Talar and Gwadar. The Army Chief expressed his satisfaction over steps being taken for restoration of peace in Mekran division.

He vowed to take all possible measures in coordination with civilian authorities to make Gwadar a safe city for local and foreign investors.

He said these projects will improve the standard of the life of the people of Pakistan, particularly Balochistan and bring prosperity to the region.

The Army Chief appreciated army troops for their untiring efforts and sacrifices in the construction of a vast road network.

Interacting with local elders, he thanked them for their unconditional cooperation and support for development projects.

General Raheel Sharif emphasised that the potential of Balochistan as a regional hub for trade in goods and energy will only be realised with a whole of national approach for its security and development.

The Army Chief was also informed that overall security situation in Mekran division has improved and graph of militancy has declined considerably. NNI
