KASUR: Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif reached the house of seven-year-old Zainab, who was brutally murdered after rape, on early Thursday morning.
He met the parents and other family members of Zainab and condoled her tragic murder. CM Shehbaz assured the bereaved family of provision of justice in the case.
CM offered fateha and assured all out support to the father of Zainab. This case will reach its logical end soon and the perpetrators will be given severest punishment, Shahbaz Sharif added.
Newly-appointed DPO Kasur Zahid Khan Marwat briefed CM Shehbaz on his arrival in Kasur.
The spokesman for Punjab government, Malik Muhammad Ahmad Khan and top police officials also accompanied CM Shehbaz during the visit.
Speaking on the occasion, Malik Ahmad Khan said that culprits involved in Zainab case will be apprehended soon. He also said that police officials involved in firing on unarmed protesters have been arrested.
Newly-appointed District Police Officer (DPO) Kasur Zahid Khan Marwat told that as many as three police officers who opened fire on people protesting against brutal killing of seven-year-old girl Zainab after rape have been arrested.
While briefing Chief Minister of Punjab (CM) Shehbaz Sharif during his visit to Zainab’s house, DPO said that two suspicious people have also been detained while a case against 16 people has also been lodged. He continued that investigation from three policemen man, who resorted to aerial firing at protesters that killed two people, is underway.
Meanwhile, the enraged local besieged civil hospital and chanted slogans against the administration. They also blocked main road for traffic amid absence of security officers.
The protesters, who also held sit-in at Steel Bagh Chowk, demanded to hang the culprit in public so that no such incident will happen in future.
