RAWALPINDI: Cantonment boards of Rawalpindi and Chaklala have made it compulsory for the local government elections candidates to clear their taxes on houses, shops and businesses in addition to utilities bills.
According to sources, the two boards have decided that all intending candidates of LBE would have to clear their dues before their nomination papers are accepted.
The both the cantonment boards have set up elections cell. Old voter lists outside offices were also displayed because new voter lists are not available in the boards.
Both boards are yet to prepare the new polling scheme despite the fact that only 36 more days are left for holding local body polls in the areas on 25th April.
According to board sources, old polling scheme would be retained for holding LBE as new scheme cannot be prepared in short span of time.
