KARACHI: Chief Justice of Pakistan Mian Saqib Nisar on Sunday inaugurated first-ever sewage water treatment plant, TP-III, in Mauripur area of the city. Addressing the inauguration ceremony of the plant, he said provision of fundamental rights to the people of Pakistan and addressing their issues is a key responsibility of the Supreme Court. The chief justice said he has no personal agenda but his only goal is to provide a better country to the next generation. Reports say the project has been completed at a cost of Rs36.117 million. Justice Nisar highlighting the importance of being sparing with fast depleting water said they will have to take measures to save water as the country’s existence is linked to it. Speaking about his recent visit to Gilgit, he said the people of the region were happy about the Supreme Court’s initiative to collect donations for construction of Diamer-Basha and Mohmand Dams. The chief justice also showered praise over the water commission headed by former SC judge Amir Hani Muslim, saying honesty with which it was discharging its responsibilities is exemplary. “Amir Hani Sahib didn’t disappoint the nation and the Supreme Court. He accomplished the goal even before the fixed time,” he said. NNI
