A Chinese company has announced that it is testing a commercial aircraft that is twice as fast as the world’s first supersonic passenger plane, the Concorde. Beijing-based space transportation company Lingkong Tiansheng has announced that the company has successfully completed the test flight of its Yunsheng prototype aircraft. This aircraft is capable of flying at Mach 4 speed i.e. about 3069 miles per hour.
According to a report by the South China Morning Post, the company is planning a follow-up test of its engine next month. While the company plans to introduce the full-size jet in 2027.
When the Concorde aircraft was introduced to the aviation industry, it broke all records for supersonic travel and remains a masterpiece in aviation technology to this day.
Now the Chinese company is aiming to break the Concorde’s record (1330 mph) by building a commercial plane that can fly at Mach 4. According to the report, the company has claimed that this plane can complete the journey between Beijing and New York within two hours. This new aircraft has many features in it. These features include vertical take-off and landing capability and flight at an altitude of 20,000 meters.
