BEIJING   : China will provide more assistance to Pakistani brothers and sisters as per it’s capacity to fight COVID-19, said a spokesperson of the Chinese Foreign Ministry Hua Chanying at a regular Press Conference.

China is watching the situation to see that what it should do more for Pakistan, she added. After the COVID-19 outbreak in China, all sectors of the Pakistani society immediately voiced strong support and concrete assistance to China. The Chinese people will not forget this, reports Gwadar Pro App.

Recently, the situation in Pakistan has become very grave due to the rapid development of the pandemic. China sympathizes with what they must be going through.  At the request of Pakistan, the Chinese government has donated several batches of medical supplies such as testing reagents, masks, protective gear and ventilators.  China is also supporting their efforts in building a temporary isolation hospital, the construction of which began last week. China also invited Pakistan to participate in a video conference on pandemic prevention and control and sent a medical team over to fight the pandemic.

The medical team is now working in Islamabad and will then travel to more places to help with local pandemic control and treatment. In addition, China’s Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region has donated a large amount of medical supplies to many regions and cities in Pakistan. Alibaba Group has also made donations to Pakistan.  At the same time, many sister provinces and cities in China, the Red Cross Society of China and some enterprises have donated and are planning to donate various kinds of materials to Pakistani embassy and consulates in China. At the ceremony, the Special Assistant to Prime Minister on National Health Services Dr. Zafar Mirza expressed gratitude to China for extending cooperation to Pakistan in this difficult time by sending Chinese doctors, supply and other equipment.

The Chinese government medical team has held a video conference at the Embassy of PRC to Pakistan, aiming to introduce the knowledge about the control and prevention of COVID-19 and give guidelines. The video conference had drawn nearly 100 people to attend, including overseas Chinese, students representatives and Chinese enterprise in Pakistan. In the coming days, the Chinese medical team is scheduled to visit six hospitals based in Islamabad, and then visit Lahore and Karachi where the epidemic situations are more serious, to give guidance to medical workers there, the report added.
