BEIJING: To make it simpler for some foreigners to visit tourist destinations near China’s border, the Chinese government has released draught regulations.
The Ministry of Culture and Tourism stated in a statement on Monday that tour groups organized by travel firms in border regions of China can choose their port of entry and exit “flexibly,” without providing specifics on places and times.
Since the current coronavirus epidemic in 2020, China has closed its borders to international tourists, allowing only a limited number of foreigners, such as those with certain job visas, to enter the nation.
Rules have been steadily loosened in recent months, from permitting foreign students with legitimate residence permits to enter China to the resume of more direct flights between China and several nations. Additionally, there is less of a foreign arrivals quarantine.
More than 10 nations border China, including Pakistan, Russia, Mongolia, Myanmar, Laos, and Vietnam.
COVID-19 instances that are imported into Chinese cities near the border are frequently connected to overland crossings by both foreigners and Chinese citizens.
