Cheap publicity stunt

In a cheap publicity stunt to seek media attention, Republican Presidential candidate  Donald Trump called for barring all Muslims from entering the United States. Since the beginning of his campaign he is making outrageous statements but this time he crossed all levels of decency and asked for a ridiculous demand. He already has called for surveillance against mosques to keep a check on all Muslims living in the United States.

Although his message came in the wake of a deadly mass shooting in San Bernardino in California but his statement was so immature considering his stature being the presidential candidate. Statement was met with widespread condemnation from all fronts, internationally and most forcefully from within the US. Sanity prevailed and President Barack Obama asked to his countrymen not to turn against each other out of fear. Even members of Republican Party condemned the statement and termed it as a personal view of Donald Trump. UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon also criticized the outrageous remarks. Rubbish statement of Trump is facing strongest reaction from United Kingdom, where over 300,000 people have signed a citizen’s petition to bar his entry to Britain. Donald Trump also needs to understand that individual acts cannot represent whole community. Fellow Americans have found in such terrorist incidents, what his stance over it. While attracting voters he should not use ignorant and dangerous views.

Such statements would encourage radicalization and violence in the society. Putting a glance on history we would came to know that during Second World War, then US President imposed ban on Japanese which was not only an act against the principles on which U.S was founded but still considered a matter of shame.  Terrorism is threat to the world peace, therefore its responsibility of world leaders to unite against it and refrain passing dangerous statements which pose threats to global peace.

Sanity prevailed and Donald Trump’s outrageous remarks against Muslims are being condemned worldwide.
