DUBAI: The International Cricket Council (ICC) on Sunday announced the details of the Champions Trophy prize money, whereby the winner of the eight-team tournament is to receive $2.2million.
The total cash pool of $4.5 million for the 2017 tournament has seen a rise of $500,000 in prize money and the runner-up of the event will receive $1.1million out of it.
The remaining prize money will be distributed amongst the remaining teams in the following order. The two losing semi-finalists will receive $450,000 each. Teams which will finish third in the two four-team groups, will take home $90,000 each, while the last teams in their respective groups will purse $60,000 each.
All eight captains will address media in the build-up to the tournament with two-time former champions Australia taking the lead. Captain Steven Smith will hold a presser on May 24 to get the ball rolling.
Captains of defending champions India followed by Sri Lanka and New Zealand will hold their media conferences on May 25. Bangladesh and Pakistan have been given the May 26 slots to address the media. Pakistan, under captain Sarfraz Ahmed, will start off their Champions Trophy campaign with two warm-up matches against Bangladesh and Australia on May 27 and 29, respectively.
