ISLAMABAD, Nov 30 (INP): Chairman Capital Development Authority (CDA), Maroof Afzal has said that the body will conduct massive up-gradation and renovation of Children Play Land (Japanese Park) with added facilities to make it a rich source of entertainment and amusement for the children of federal capital.
Maroof Afzal stated this while chairing a high level meeting at CDA Headquarters on Sunday. Member Environment, Syed Mustafain Kazmi, Member Administration and Estate, Amer Ali Ahmed and officers of Environment were also present in the meeting.
The meeting reviewed the up-gradation plan of the Children Play Land, established by Government of Japan in 1985 focusing on a theme with special equipments for the amusement and entertainment of children. The up-gradation plan includes the existing amusement facilities and addition of new entertainment equipments containing the original theme for the children.
Member Environment Syed Mustafain Kazmi apprised the Chairman CDA that CDA and Economic Affair Division has initiated joint working on a plan for up-gradation of Children Play Land under which Japan International Cooperation System (JICS) in collaboration with CDA is providing 30 amusement facilities in the park. While the 21 amusement facilities would also be renovated /upgraded, he informed. He said that nine equipments with new design would also be installed in the park. He informed that amusement facilities similar to the existing designs and theme would be installed. The Japanese Government will bear expenses of 80 (million) on this project. Member Environment further informed that all equipments are being prepared in Japan under the supervision of JICS, which will be installed by CDA in its available resources. Furthermore the Japanese Government will provide operational training to the concerned CDA staff.
Chairman CDA, Maroof Afzal said that Children Play Land is a prestigious and memorable gift from government of Japan for the children of Pakistan. He expressed his hope for early completion of up-gradation, renovation and its installation so that the children could enjoy the best amusement and entertainment facilities. Chairman CDA said that the Authority is taking all out measures on war footing for up-gradation of existing parks in all sectors of the Federal Capital, particularly in the highly populated sectors. He said that CDA has allocated sufficient funds during the current fiscal year for establishment of new parks and up-gradation and maintenance of existing parks in the city. Chairman CDA said that CDA has started plantation of Olive trees all along Kashmir Highway. In first phase 5000 Olive Trees are being planted and thereafter more trees will be added. The plantation of flower and fruit plants would not only enhance the beautiful green cover but would eliminate the shrubs and wild bushes around the highways and avenues in the city. Chairman CDA, Maroof Afzal said that CDA has commenced work on plantation of fruit, flower and ever-green plants at the entrances of Islamabad to further enhance its beauty.
