ISLAMABAD, JAN 11 (DNA) – Member Administration and Estate, Capital Development Authority (CDA), Amer Ali Ahmed chaired a meeting at CDA Headquarter, to review the progress of CDA’s weekly bazaars and availability of quality food items at affordable rates there and steps taken by the administration of weekly bazaars to provide security to the citizens visiting these bazaars.

The meeting was attended by the Director Security and in-charge CDA Weekly Bazars and other relevant officers of the Authority.

Member Administration and Estate, Amer Ali Ahmed said that provision of different kinds of quality vegetables, fruits and other edible items of daily use to customers at affordable rates at weekly bazaars must be ensured.

He directed the Director Security and In charge weekly bazaars to ensure hygienic condition in the weekly bazaars and to pay surprise visits to weekly bazaars and keep a vigilant eye on prescribed prices of daily use food items.

He further directed to take effective security measures and ensure the deployment of security guards at the entry gates to avoid any untoward incident.

Member Administration and Estate  was apprised that bazaar administration is executing a successful and result oriented push to ensure availability of fresh and hygienic fruits and vegetables in the weekly bazaars at cheaper rates. Resultantly, fruits and vegetables are being sold in the Islamabad’s weekly bazaars at rates lower than rates at markets of Islamabad and Rawalpindi.

He was further informed that the bazaars’ administration has started strict monitoring of sale of the eatables at prescribed rates and legal action is taken against the violators.

Licenses of different stall holders have been cancelled in this regard while fine was also imposed on several stall holders against complaints of provision of sub standard items.

He was also apprised that weekly Bazar administration is ensuring proper deployment of security guards at main entry gates.

He was also apprised that those stall holders who either do not open their stalls or are not depositing CDA charges on regular basis, have been warned through final notice otherwise their allotment would be cancelled.=DNA
