Patriot Report Islamabad: A government advertisement aired on a number of news channels on Wednesday claimed that those demanding accountability of the Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif want to halt country’s progress. The advertisement names a number of projects that the Prime Minister has inaugurated or started and asks whether the demand for Prime Minister’s accountability is due to these projects. The advertisment lists the China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), Prime Minister Laptop Scheme, reduction in petrol price, metro bus project, orange line project, better healthcare facilities, motorways, Gwadar port, ever improving performance of stock exchange, reduction in petroleum prices and increase is forex reserves and asks whether it is due to these project ‘some’ are demanding the accountability of the Prime Minister.

The advertisement claims that ‘those’ who are asking people to come on the streets and demand accountability want to halt the development projects undertaken by the Prime Minister. It is pertinent to mention here that opposition parties are demanding Prime Minister’s accountability and investigation into the revelations of Panama Papers leaks. Imran Khan led Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf has carried out a number of street protests in this regard. The party however converted its Islamabad lockdown plan into a thanksgiving celebration after the apex court on Tuesday during a hearing of petitions moved by the Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI), Jamaat-i-Islami, Awami Muslim League, and others, ordered the PML-N and PTI to submit Terms of Reference (ToRs) on the formation of a commission to probe revelations made in the Panama Papers.
