LAHORE: Punjab Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar has said Punjab has suffered a colossal loss of Rs650 billion while more than 13,000 people have died due to the coronavirus pandemic.
The chief minister said the masses have already suffered due to the coronavirus pandemic and to avoid further losses people should cooperate with the vaccination teams at district levels to make the campaign successful.
The chief minister expressed these views while inaugurating the ‘Reach Every Door’ vaccination drive in Khanewal and Vehari on Monday
Following the directives of the CM, a campaign has been launched from Monday to vaccinate around one million people daily. The drive will continue till November 12.
The CM was briefed about the ‘Reach Every Door’ campaign at a meeting which was attended by Health Minister Dr Yasmin Rashid, the primary and secondary health secretary, DGPR and others.
The meeting was told that 18,000 field teams would go to every nook and corner of the province to provide a free vaccination facility.
The government has also set up 14,000 new vaccination centres in different districts to facilitate the masses at their doorstep.
The CM said parliamentarians and social workers have been entrusted with the task to make this drive a success.
“I appeal to the public to get vaccinated as it is the only remedy against coronavirus,” he added. The CM asserted that vaccination and observance of SOPs were imperative to avoid further losses.
Earlier, Buzdar visited Khanewal and Vehari and expressed condolences over the death of MPA N-League Nishat Ahmd Daha in Khanewal. He also condoled the demise of the mother of MNA Tahir Iqbal in Vehari.
The CM visited vaccination outreach centres in Khanewal and Vehari and also inaugurated the “Reach Every Door” campaign.
Buzdar arrived in Khanewal on Monday and visited the residence of PML-N MPA Nishat Ahmad Daha (late) in Kot Hebat Khan and expressed his condolences with the bereaved family and offered Fateha.
Talking on this occasion, CM said Nishat Ahmad Daha had a legacy of great political traditions and he had a relationship of respect with him.
“Daha promoted the culture of people’s politics and he served the public in real terms,” CM said Nishat Ahmad Daha wholeheartedly served the masses and dedicated his whole life to public welfare and his political and social contribution for the people of Khanewal would always be remembered.
Senator Aon Abbas Pappi, provincial minister Hussain Jahanai Gerdezi, Chief Whip Provincial Assembly Ali Abbas Shah, Masood Majeed Khan Daha and others were also present on this occasion.
Later, the chief minister held meetings with parliamentarians, public representatives and other dignitaries. During the meetings, political situations and development projects came under discussion.
The chief minister also visited the vaccination outreach centre at People’s Colony Khanewal and inaugurated the “Reach Every Door” vaccination campaign.
Buzdar also visited the vaccination centre at G-Block Vehari and inaugurated the corona vaccination campaign. CM reviewed the performance of the vaccination team and asked them to make the campaign successful.
