ISLAMABAD: Bureaucracy came under scathing criticism by MNAs including Capt (retd) Safdar, Najaf Siyal , Sarzameen Khan and a number of other lawmakers for not considering the suggestions of the elected representatives. Speaking on point of order, the elected representatives said that the top bureaucrats were neither listening to their telephones nor giving time for meetings. They said that the bureaucrats were not giving any importance to the elected houses and were not attending the sessions.
The MNAs demanded that like in the past all the senior bureaucrats should attend the sessions of the National Assembly and the Senate.
The lawmakers also demanded that the law enabling the bureaucracy to write its own ACRs should be done away with. Minister for Parliamentary Affairs Sheikh Aftab responding to the points said that a system is in place for the promotion of Grade-20 and 21 officers and final decision is taken by the Prime Minister.
On insistence by Capt (retd) Safdar for the formation of the parliamentary committee, Deputy Speaker ruled that if the members wanted to change the system for the promotion of officers, they will have to bring an amending bill in the parliament.
