LAHORE: Senior Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) leader and leader of the opposition in the Senate Barrister Aitzaz Ahsan has said that the Prime Minister and his children will have to prove that the property and flats in London were legally acquired.
Talking to media here on Sunday, the top legal brain of the country said the Prime Minister and his family will have to prove in the apex court that the money was transferred legally to London and taxes were paid on it.
He said all over the world, the Evidence Act requires the accused party to prove the innocence. He also stressed that the same scale be exercised as was used in the case of former Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani.
To a question, Barrister Aitzaz Ahsan said the Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) leadership did not contact him to pursue the Panama Leaks case in the Supreme Court. He was of the view that Prime Minister and his children cannot escape from the Panama case if due process is applied.
He said the letter of the Qatari prince is just a piece of waste paper and was of the view that the Qatari Prince’s wouldn’t be able to face even ten questions in the Supreme Court.
Aitzaz Ahsan stressed that they want investigation into Panama Leaks according to the bill submitted by the opposition in the Senate.
He made it clear that the PPP would launch a movement against the government if the four demands put forward by Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari were not met. INP
