ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister’s Advisor on Foreign Affairs Sartaj Aziz has said that soon a breakthrough would be reached on Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan-India gas pipeline project.
Talking to newsmen in Islamabad on Sunday, he said that TAPI is an important gas pipeline project to meet energy needs of the region. He said that assurances about security of the project have been given by Afghanistan.
Regarding peace process in Afghanistan, the advisor said that no timeline can be given as far as reconciliation and resolution of the conflict are considered. He, however, said that process is moving forward.
On water issues with India, he said that mechanisms have already been in place and Indus Water Treaty is keenly monitoring every power project being constructed by India. He said that water interests would be safeguarded at all costs.DNA
