ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister (PM) Nawaz Sharif has said that we are facing an extra ordinary situation which requires extra ordinary measures and cautioned that anything short of strong actions would be unacceptable for the nation.
Addressing a a meeting of the national parliamentary leaders here Wednesday, the Prime Minister expressed his satisfaction with the fact that all the leaders were on the same page concerning the Peshawar carnage.
He said that the way children were targeted in Peshawar, it was unprecedented in the history of mankind. He said that terrorism was a cancer and history would be unforgiving if right measures were not taken to counter it.
Nawaz Sharif said the gruesome incident of Peshawar has united the entire nation and it is now looking towards the political leaders to take the right decisions.
The Prime Minister said all the political parties should demonstrate unity and discuss the concerns if they have any on any issue. “We are ready to address the concerns pertaining to the imminent legislation.”
He said Zarb-e-Azb operation is successfully going on in North Waziristan and there is a dire need to expand it to the entire country against those elements who want to rip the country apart.
He said the government initiated dialogue process with militants to peacefully resolve the issue but they left no option after attack on Karachi airport and forced us to launch operation Zarb-e-Azb in North Waziristan tribal region.
Zarb-e-Azb operation is successfully progressing, he added.
The Prime Minister said Pakistan and Afghanistan have agreed not to allow their soils to be used by the terrorists. Afghan leadership is also committed to eliminate terrorism.
“We had constructive talks with Afghan leadership and decided to bilaterally resolve all issues,” he added.
