LAHORE: Chairperson Benazir Income Support Programme Marvi Memon says the programme is playing an important role in poverty alleviation and women’s uplift in the country.

Addressing a conference in Lahore, she said BISP is extending financial assistance and various services to the two point five million poor families all over the country.

Marvi Memon said a fresh survey of poor families will be conducted across Pakistan on modern lines which would be completed in 2017.

Marvi Memon said BISP is providing financial relief to the poorest of the poor on merit. She said the program is symbolic and the world is now appreciating the BISP for its transparency.

She said the on-going re-survey of the programme will enlist new eligible people and strike down names of those who have graduated over time. NNI
