MANDI BAHAUDDIN: Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto on Wednesday expressed concern over participation of banned outfits in the July 25 elections.
Addressing an election campaign rally, the PPP leader slammed politics of hatred and stressed the need to conform to politics that is based on vision and has an ideology.
“We have to put an end to politics that revolves around hate and foul language….. and for that we need the vote and support of our people. We need people power,” he said.
Condemning the banned outfits, he said, “The participation of banned outfits in elections is akin to defaming and degrading democracy and democratic principles,” he added.
Bilawal said if elected he would work for empowerment and emancipation of women. He also promised interest-free loans to women from poor backgrounds and foodstores run by females.
The PPP leader said his ambitions were not just about becoming prime minister, but bringing back the policies that were dear to his mother and grandfather.
“We have to keep BB and Bhutto Shaheed’s promise. We have to save Pakistan. There is no greater sense of fulfillment in a son’s life than to feel like he is continuing with his mother’s incomplete missions,” he said. NNI
Meanwhile he said PTI chief Imran Khan has a misconception that he can become prime minister by hatching conspiracies but he would bite the dust, the PPP chairperson asserted.
“If Khan Sahib would have been so popular, his politics at peak and masses with him, then what was the need to show such favoritism to him and provide a non-level playing field to other parties,” he asked.
He said the PTI chief was afraid of fair elections because he cannot fight elections in a transparent manner.
Bilawal Bhutto Zardari said that banned outfits contesting the elections is an insult to democracy. If Imran Khan’s politics and popularity is on top, and the public is with him, then he wouldn’t have needed all this favouritism to get elected, said Bilawal.
He said not only the PPP and PML-N, but other parties including the ANP and regional parties in Balochistan are complaining of not being allowed to campaign freely.
On the issue of Nawaz Sharif’s trial being held in jail, Bilawal said that trials should be held in courts and everyone should get their basic rights. NNI
