ISLAMABAD: A four-member high-level delegation of Belarus agriculture scientists visited various facilities at National Agricultural Research Center (NARC) to witness research advancements by Pakistani scientists in this particular field.
The Belarus scientists’ delegation comprised of DG Scientific Practical Centre NAS for Agriculture Mechanization, Siarhei Yakouchik, Deputy Director General NASBScientific Practical Center on Animal Breeding, Piatrushka Ihar, Academician Secretary, Department of Biological Sciences of National Academy of Sciences (NAS) Belarus, Mikhail Nikiforov and Dr. Aamir R. Ayub.
The delegation members visited Crop Sciences Institute (CSI), Agricultural and Biological Engineering Institute, National Institute of Genomics and Biology (NIGAB), Horticulture Research Institute (HRI), Farm Machinery Institute (FMI) Honeybee Research Institute, Animal Sciences Institute (ASI), Livestock Research Station (LRS) and Bioremediation site.
The Belarus delegates expressed great satisfaction over the research development and the technologies introduced by the PARC scientists for the development of agriculture sector of the country.
They termed the NARC as one of the best research institutions which has been adding to the existing knowledge in the fields of agriculture research and technology. They were of the view that Pakistan and Belarus have great opportunity to cooperate with each other in the field of agriculture research and take advantage of each others’ technologies and learn from the experiences of each other.
The delegates were also shown the experimental fields where NARC scientists practice their knowledge to develop new technologies and new crop varieties.
Meanwhile, Chairman Pakistan Agricultural Research Council (PARC) Dr Iftikhar Ahmad said that the visit of Belarus scientists to PARC would help promote agriculture research on modern lines.
He said that the visit has paved way for mutual cooperation in agriculture research and development adding that this provides great opportunity to Pakistan to take advantage of knowledge and technology introduced by Belarus.
