Rawalpindi: 6 Khawarij were killed while 12 jawans were martyred in an exchange of fire with terrorists trying to attack a check post in Bannu.
According to the Public Relations Department of the Pakistan Army (ISPR), on November 19, Khawarij tried to attack a joint check post in Malikhel area of Bannu district, during which 6 Khawarij perished in the exchange of fire.
Due to the effective resistance of the security forces, the Khawarij could not enter the check post, whereupon they rammed a vehicle full of ammunition against the outer wall of the check post. As a result of the suicide blast, a part of the wall collapsed and the surrounding infrastructure was also affected.
12 Bahadur Spots were martyred in the suicide blast, including 10 security forces personnel and 2 Frontier Constabulary personnel.
According to the spokesperson of Pakistan Army, the clearance operation is going on in the area and those responsible for this heinous act will be brought to justice. Pakistan’s security forces and law enforcement agencies are committed to eradicating terrorism. These sacrifices of our brave men strengthen our resolve.

President Asif Ali Zardari has expressed regret over the martyrdom of 12 youths in the attack by Khawarji terrorists in Bannu. He paid homage to the soldiers of Pakistan Army for sacrificing their lives in the defense of the country.

The President reiterated his commitment to the complete elimination of the scourge of terrorism and prayed for the martyrdom of the youths.
