CHARSADDA: Bacha Khan University (BKU) Charsadda on Monday reopened for routine educational activities after five days of the terror attack in which some 21 persons were killed and more than 30 injured.

According to a BKU spokesperson, classes started with special prayers for the martyrs followed by a peace rally.

A condolence reference was organized at the main auditorium of the university where teachers, students and other staffers offered collective prayers for the departed souls and those injured in the terrorist attack. The students expressed their determination against terrorism. Parents of the victims were present at the condolence ceremony.

Speaking on the occasion, BKU Vice Chancellor Dr Fazal-ur-Rahim Marwat said that the students would continue their study without any fear of terrorism.

Strict security arrangements were in place.

Meanwhile, members of civil society arranged candle-lit vigils at several points in Peshawar. Similarly, a candle-lit vigil was held outside Press Club Sukkur to pay tribute to the martyrs of Charsadda and victims of other terrorist incidents.

It may be added that four terrorists had stormed the BKU campus on Wednesday (January 20), killing 21 persons, mostly students at a boys’ hostel. A teacher, a librarian and other staff members were also among those killed.
