RAWALPINDI: The Lahore High Court’s order to release Ayyan Ali on bail was sent on a special plane to Rawalpindi where the legal team went to the house of the session judge to get it signed. The session court magistrate, however, has denied the request of immediate release and has referred the defendant to the customs court.
According to details, the session judge Bahadur Khan signed the release but was delayed because the magistrate told the defendant to get the clearance from customs court.
Ayyan Ali was arrested at Islamabad airport while smuggling a sum of Rs 5 lakh after which she was transferred to Adiala Jail for around four months.
Ali appeared before the court for as many as thirteen times but was unsuccessful in securing a release on bail.
The defendants then took to the Lahore High Court where the bail plea was accepted against bonds of Rs 10 lakh.
