Security forces personnel martyrdom in North Waziristan tribal district in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan after they came under separate attacks by unknown militants is really a shocking development. Ten soldiers were martyred in N Waziristan, Balochistan attacks. Six of them embraced martyrdom in a cross-border attack near Pakistani-Afghanistan border after militants attacked Pakistan army patrolling team from across Afghan border in Gurbaz, North Waziristan. The martyred included Havaldar Khalid, Sepoy Naveed, Sepoy Bachal, Sepoy Ali Raza, Sepoy Mohammad Babar and Sepoy Ahsan. In another incident, a contingent of the Frontier Corps was attacked by unidentified militants during a combing operation between Hushab and Torbat in Balochistan, in which four FC men, including captain, were martyred. The troops martyred in Balochistan included Captain Aqib Javed, Sepoy Nadir, Sepoy Atif Altaf and Sepoy Hafeezullah. The attacks came days after the Pakistani civilian and military leaders discussed the regional security situation and Afghan peace with their American counterparts and the US leadership acknowledged contributions of Pakistan Army in the war against terrorism and role towards Afghan peace process. These attacks were prepared to derail new avenues of cooperation and prevent conflict resolution. These are condemnable acts on the of part perpetrators and cannot weaken Pakistan Armed Forces’ resolve in the fight against elements vitiating regional peace and stability because the entire nation is behind them. This is not the first time that the security forces personnel have come under attack. Heroes of Pakistan have been sacrificing there today for people’s better tomorrow. We are grateful to the sacrifices of our soldiers. Chief of Army Staff Gen Qamar Javed Bajwa and Prime Minister Imran while condemning attacks reiterated their resolve for regional peace. Chief of Army Staff Gen Qamar Javed Bajwa in a statement condemning the attack said the armed force shall ensure the defense and security of motherland at the cost of their sweat and blood. He termed the attacks as dying efforts of frustrated inimical forces as the country is heading towards achieve enduring and lasting peace in the region after attaining stability. He further said that it time for the world to facilitate regional peace. Prime Minister Imran Khan while offering condolences and prayers for the families of the martyred soldiers said that he salutes the armed forces personnel who continue to lay down their lives fighting terrorists. Continuing he said that Pakistan has had 15 years of fighting this war on terror. Over 70,000 Pakistanis were martyred and Pakistan’s economy suffered over $150 billion loss, therefore, Pakistan certainly wants peace. While the security of the tribal areas has been improved with efforts now focused on solidifying the western border, desperate elements are attempting to weaken our efforts.
