ISLAMABAD: Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) head Altaf Hussain has said that army will have no other option except to intervene in case of any confrontation.
In a press statement on Sunday, Hussain said that MQM is a democratic party, which doesn’t want the imposition of martial law. He, however, said that army will have to intervene to save the country if a confrontational course was taken. Hussain urged the government to take two steps back and appealed to protesting parties to show some flexibility. “The current flaws in the country’s system should be rectified through legal and constitutional reforms,” he stressed. “Had the MQM not played a conciliatory role to end the siege of Model Town, there would have been a major showdown in Lahore,” he opined.
