PESHAWAR: Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Qamar Javed Bajwa on Monday acknowledged the sacrifice of Sepoy Waqas who laid down his life for security of the motherland.
According to Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), terrorists opened fire from across the Pak-Afghan border on a Pakistani military post in Khyber Agency. Sepoy Waqas was critically injured in the attack while performing his duties on the post. The injured soldier embraced martyrdom at Combined Military Hospital (CMH) in Peshawar.
His funeral prayers were offered at Corps Headquarters Peshawar. Corps Commander Lieutenant General Nazir Ahmed Butt, Inspector General Frontier Corps (IG FC) Major General Shaheen Mazhar Mehmood, Chief Security Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) and large number of officers and soldiers also participated in the funeral prayers. Terrorists are resorting to fire from across the border taking advantage of weak border control on Afghanistan side. There is a requirement to check terrorists’ freedom of movement on Afghan side of the border. NNI
