Anti-epidemic spray drive not yet started in Pindi

RAWALPINDI (DNA/INP): The district administration, RawalTown, PotoharTown and Cantonment Boards have not yet started drive for doing anti-epidimic spray in rain-affected areas of city and slum.

Although water has receded in most of the rain-affected areas across the city, but the vaccine has also not been administered to the children living in these areas owing to which there is great dangers of spreading diseases among the inhabitants of these areas.

The areas which were inundated deavy heavy rains in the city have not yet been fully cleared of garbage and mud.

Nullahs are filled wih garbage in the rain-hit areas of Javed Colony, Nadeem Colony, Dhok Elahi Bakhash, Dhok Najo and other adjacent areas which may cause spreading of diseases.

Meanwhile. DCO Rawalpindi, Sajid Zafar Dall, has appealed the citizens to play their role to eliminate dengue by ensuring that their homes and surrounding areas are clean and dry. He said anti dengue drive has been expedited after the record rain because danger of breeding of dengue larvae has increased due to suitable temperatures. He said during indoor surveillance, dengue larvae have been detected mostly in water tanks, on roof tops and water air coolers.

He said this while presiding over a meeting held at DCO office to review anti dengue efforts. ADC(G) Imran Qureshi, DOs of Health, Agriculture, Environment, fisheries, Livestock, Education, Social Welfare, Civil Defense and other departments, Director Colleges, AC Cantt and other concerning officers were also present.

The DCO said coordinated efforts of government departments and citizens are drastically required to eliminate dengue. He said a specific breed of fish is being stocked in puddles emerged after recent rains. He said special attention is being paid on the cleanliness of graveyards and open places to eliminate any possibility of breeding of dengue larvae.
