NOWSHERA: Senior ANP leader Mian Iftikhar was arrested here on Sunday alongwith his guard on charges of murder of an ANP worker. The worker ofPakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) was killed in Sunday’s wee hours.
According to reports, a PTI activist , Khan Sher lodged an FIR of murder and attempted murder against the Awami National Party’s leader. According to Sher Khan, the ANP leader ordered his guards to open fire at a PTI rally when it was passing past his residence.
Following the FIR was lodged at Pabbi police station, police raided Mian Iftikhar’s residence and arrested him along with guard. Receiving the report of his arrest, ANP workers and leaders reached the police station in large number.
While strongly refuting the allegations, Mian Iftikhar said that he has been bearing the pain of death of his son and cannot imagine of ordering killing of anyone. He said the PTI worker was killed by firing of his own party mates.
According to earlier police report, the PTI activists overnight burst into merrymaking in Nowshera’s Pabbi Bazaar to celebrate their party’s win in the local bodies elections in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
According to reports, party workers resorted to aerial firing to mark the festive occasion of party’s victory in local bodies elections. One stray bullet hit an activist, who was immediately transported to hospital. However, he was pronounced dead at the hospital. The deceased has been identified as a teenaged Habibullah.
