Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan on Saturday revealed that four suicide bombers who stormed Peshawar’s Christian Colony on Friday were foreigners but it was yet to be ascertained which countries they belonged to.
At least one civilian and four suicide bombers were killed after terrorists attacked Christian Colony near Warsak Dam on the outskirts of Peshawar on early Friday morning and exchanged fire with security forces. According to media reports gunmen were wearing suicide jackets and were attempting to enter an adjacent security installation, by exploiting weaker security arrangements in the residential area. Two of the attackers detonated their suicide jackets, and two others were killed by security forces. Spokesman of terrorist group TTP accepted the responsibility and said that terrorist attack was a response to show that militant groups had not been eliminated.
We should appreciate heroic of security forces on successful operation against terrorists in Peshawar. Pakistan has successfully launched massive operations against militants in various parts of the country. Pakistan’s security forces have won a difficult war but there is still more to be done to eradicate terrorism entirely. There is huge decrease in the terrorist attacks; it reflects the success of operations. After being defeated, militants are looking to attack soft targets, usually public places, in such a scenario only intelligence basses operations can tackle such heinous plans of terrorists. There is also need to take action against the abettors of terrorists. There is also need to further enhance intelligence based operations. We as a nation has done great to fight terror but still implementation of all 20-points of NAP is required to uproot menace of terrorism from our country.
