RAWALPINDI: ANF Youth Ambassadors Convention was organized at Topi Rakh Auditorium, AyubNational Park, Rawalpindi. DG ANF Major General Khawar Hanif was the chief guest of the event. The occasion was addressed by Leading Cardiologist Maj Gen (R) Zafar Ul Islam, Representative ex UNODC Mr. Collie Brown, Senior Analyst Javed Chohadry, Youth expert & Anchor Basit Subhani and Force Commander ANF Brig Ramzan Gill. Event was attended by diplomats, NGOs, media persons, teacher community and students from GhoraGaliCollege, RiphahInternationalUniversity, LUMS, LahoreUniversity, NUST, SZABIST, NUML, HamdardUniversity and students from various colleges and schools.
The event is marked as first ever convention to take the youth on board for Anti Drug Campaign. The participants highlighted hazards of drugs, quantum of drug threat, metabolism disorder due to drugs, drug challenges to youth and national / moral responsibilities of youth. Peer pressure was recognized as the core cause of addiction amongst students and street children. DG ANF Major General Khawar Hanif emphasized that youth should be mindful of their thoughts, words and actions, because these are the base-line check points to limit impending threat of addiction.
Basic purpose of the convention was to motivate the youth to join hands with ANF in making “Drug Free Society” as well as to inculcate instinctive reaction to “SAY NO TO DRUGS” at the very outset. The event also emphasized to organize healthy opportunities to youth, hence providing constructive alternate recreational / informational social works.
It is pertinent to mention that ANF has launched “Youth Ambassador Program” on ANF website, whereby a number of volunteer youth got registered and is engaged in Anti Drug campaigns. The venue was embellished with Anti Narcotics posters, placards and advertisements. The event concluded with presentation of souvenirs and gifts to prominent youth members, speakers, media persons & volunteer workers.
