ANF seizes 609 kgs of narcotics worth Rs 2326 M, seven held

RAWALPINDI: ANF held Force Commander Conference at its Headquarters at Rawalpindi. The conference was chaired by DG ANF Major General Khawar Hanif. It was attended by Commanders of all Regional Directorates and Senior Staff Officers. At the onset of Conference, review of the ANF performance was analyzed and futuristic targets were set forth. During the Conference, aspects of enforcement, intelligence, assets investigation, prosecution, and other financial/ administrative matters were deliberated upon. Sideways to above activity at HQ, ANF field operations continued as usual and total 7 countrywide operations were conducted at Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Attock, Mianwali, Peshawar, Karachi and Qilla Saif Ullah, recovering 303.47 Kgs of Heroin, 305 Kgs of Charas and 1 Kg of Ice (Methamphetamine). During operations, ANF rounded up 7 drug traffickers / smugglers and seized 6 vehicles. Most of the recovered drug was destined abroad. The value of recovered drugs amounts approximately Rs. 2326 M in International Market.
ANF Quetta led a successful intelligence operation and seized a Toyota Corolla Car No. W-8879 from general area of Killi Dilsoor, Tehsil Muslim Bagh, Dist Qilla Saifullah and recovered 298 Kgs of Heroin concealed inside the car. Heroin was concealed in secret cavities of the car. However, the persons on board had already fled from the crime scene taking advantage of the mountainous nature of the area. As per initial information, Heroin was to be transported to Karachi for smuggling abroad. ANF Peshawar conducted an operation near Sarband Nalla, Sarband Road, Peshawar, and seized 273 Kgs of Charas concealed at a place beside the Nalla. Charas was packed in 26 plastic bags. Out of 26 bags, each contained 10-11 Kgs of Charas. As per initial reports, the place was being used as cache site and the drug was to be transported to Punjab for local distribution.
ANF Rawalpindi seized a Truck No. C-2520 at Jand-Kohat Road, near Jand, District Attock and recovered 30 Kgs of Charas concealed in it. Charas was tactfully concealed inside the spare wheel of the vehicle. 2 drug smugglers namely Darya Khan r/o Khyber Agency and Nasir Khan r/o Peshawar were taken into custody at the spot along with vehicle. As per reports, the drug was being transported to Rawalpindi for local consumption. ANF Rawalpindi in pursuance of information arrested a drug trafficker Waqar Azam r/o Kohat and local recipient Muahmmad Waseem r/o Rawalpindi at Muree Road, Rawalpindi. They were caught red-handed during handing/ taking of drugs. The operation resulted in recovery of 2.2 Kgs of Charas and seizure of a car and a motorcycle.
ANF Rawalpindi Airport Team intercepted a passenger Muhammad Rasheed r/o Sheikhupura at Benazir Bhutto International Airport, Islamabad, and recovered 1 Kg of Ice (Methamphetamine) tactfully concealed in his bag. The accused intended to board for Riyadh by PIA Flight No. PK-753. ANF Lahore intercepted a Suzuki Mehran Car No. RE-776 near Shell Petrol Pump, Sargodha Morr, MM Road Mianwali and recovered 3 Kgs of Heroin concealed inside the car. A drug trafficker Hayat Khan r/o Mardan was apprehended at the spot. After initial investigation of the accused, a drug recipient Aurangzeb Khan r/o Mianwali was also arrested along with 2 Kgs of Heroin from nearby area while riding on a motorcycle, which was also seized.
ANF Karachi intercepted a parcel at TCS office, DHA, Karachi and recovered 475 Gram of Heroin tactfully concealed in ladies shirts. The parcel was booked from TCS Office, Quetta and was destined for UK. As per initial reports, it was being despatched by a person namely Hassan Khan r/o Loralai to a recipient namely Haider Zaman residing at Birmingham, UK. All cases have been registered at ANF Police Stations and further investigations are under progress.
