LONDON, Muttahida Qaumi Movement Altaf Hussain has called upon Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf and Pakistan Awami Tehreek to withdraw their ultimatums to the government for acceptance of their demands.

In a statement, he said all sides should keep doors of dialogue open as confrontation is not in the interest of the nation. He said the government should consider genuine demands of PTI and PAT.

Altaf Hussain said that the two parties dissect from entering the red zone and all matters should be resolved through dialogue.

In related development, PPP Co-Chairperson Asif Ali Zardari has nominated former Interior Minister Rehman Malik as focal person for contacts with other political parties in the wake of the ongoing political crisis.

Party sources said on Sunday that Rehman Malik would meet different leaders and keep Asif Zardari informed. They said Rehman Malik has been appointed focal person after reservations expressed by opposition parties about the role of Syed Khursheed Shah.

The sources also said that the leadership of PPP was unhappy with Khursheed Shah over his meetings with political leaders without taking leadership into confidence. DNA/INP
